"and the French one of the woman on the bridge having her shoe retrieved by a young man from the river below."
I am not familiar with this painting, can you give me a hint on how to find it online?

This is true, but the kidnapper generally plans the situation so that the victim has no chance to try to escape. A shoe can be lost during a kidnapping and then, if he notices it, he can pick it up.

I think it depends on whether the pursuer is a calculating criminal or a psychopath. In the latter case, he may pick up a lost shoe, treating it as part of the sick game he is playing. There was a scene in the Polish film "Strefa ciszy" (The zone of silence), I think, where the main character, trying to escape, trips and loses one shoe. Terrified, she abandons it and runs away, but the man chasing her picks up the shoe and shouts loudly: "Where are you, Cinderella?"

That story with the shoe locked accidentally along with the keys in the car in the car park?
And, if you don't mind me asking, what do you plan to do with these photos?

I remember, I used to visit these sites often. It is a pity that they have ceased to exist.

That podcast should be completed by displaying pictures or videos of accidents with shoes. I would like to watch every episode in real life
(I can remember, that Uma Thurman lost her high heel running away of paparazzo.)

Hi Martina !
I'm not a big fan of flip-flops, though. If only they are more elegant - for example, with wider stripes, low wedge heel, leather ones - they could look quite good on women's feet.Especially if the nails on the feet are painted in some light, pastel color. And if then one of these flip-flops is missing, it could be a nice look.

Interesting stories, mr. ko962! And I look forward for more if them.
And here is one from me:
A long time ago. On holiday in the lake camp, together with my best friend - Karolina, a typical boyish girl - we got to the boat. Everything would be great, but we lost one paddle. We didn't manage to get back with only one, and water carried us to the opposite shore. Except that we didn't reach the very shore, the boat stopped on a tiny "island" and got stuck on something underwater. To the shore from that clump we actually had a few more meters to go. The depth of water measured with our remaining paddle was not so deep, somehow between "to the waist" and "to the chest". However, the bottom turned out to be very muddy and sticky and Karolina suddenly shouted that she couldn't move. I grabbed her hand, pulled her and managed to free her from the trap. But when we got to the shore it turned out that Karolina didn't have one shoe. It was stuck in the sludge. There was no way to recover the loss, unfortunately. Then we had to march around the lake for almost an hour. So it was simple, we got scolded, because without someone adult we were not allowed to use boats and water bicycles. Karolina additionally has heard an earful because her lost shoe. And me - on the for endanger my friend. Well...

It was quite long incident! And she even walks off still wearing one shoe.
It reminds me what happened when I was in middle school. One day an chemistry teacher stepped accidentally in puddle that turned to be over ankle deep. When she came to our class (it was first lesson), she just took her soaked wet right middle-heeled shoe off and spent whole lesson wearing only her left one.
