My guess would be hit by car. That's usually what results in single shoe loss in Anime. If it was suicide, she'd be missing BOTH shoes. (since people in Japan usually take their shoes off before jumping, so as not to dirty the rail)

If you like that theme, you should check out a site called Clips 4 Sale and search the clips for Jade the Spy's Shoe. You'll come up with several dozen clips, but you need to focus on the ones with the category of One Shoe. 5 clips will show up, and 4 of them were written and commissioned by me. There is a fifth one out there too, but it's missing. I've asked the Clips 4 Sale people to find out whatever happened to it. The clips I commissioned are all identified by the fact that Jade is always dressed in a nice skirt outfit, heels and is wearing a hat. There is one other clip shown on the list that was not done by me. That's the one where she's not wearing a hat and is in some kind of pants outfit (Yuch!!) I hope they can find the missing fifth clip as it was fairly good, although it did need some good editing. I've played with these clips over the years, editing them down and rearranging them a bit using my crude editing skills and the Windows Movie Maker program, but I wish I had a better editing program that I didn't have to pay for that I could use. I do not want to put these clips up on this site as they are still available on the Clips 4 Sale site for sale and that would be unscrupulous of me to undercut them like that. I do not get any commissions from the sales, just the satisfaction that they were made and that they are enjoyed by those who do get them. If you do get them, let me know what you think. One last thing: in every clip, she loses her left shoe, which I specified in my scripts.

Ok, this may sound like an ad, but I assure you, I wasn't hacked and I legitimately love this app. I just discovered an app called Tubi and on there are a bunch of movies you can watch for free, most of them are campy B movies and low budget indie films (with the odd old blockbuster). I started watching a bunch of horror movies, like zombie movies, as there's likey more foot grabs in them and a chance for shoe loss (sacrificing my time for you guys!).
Anyway, so far, I've seen a ton of foot grabs and no shoe loss yet, but I did come across this one random scene in a movie called The Dead and the Damned.

Time is 1 hour and 7 minutes into the movie
The lead actress is running away from a blind zombie and realizes the zombie can smell the cut on her leg. So she removes the bandage from her leg and takes off one of her cowboy boots to leave behind as bait (she's barefoot). It's her left boot she leaves behind for those that love left footwear loss.
I'll keep scouring the app for more scenes, but please join in the hunt as well!

Nice find.
In the new episode of Wandavision Agatha the witch gets knocked out of her boots when The Scarlet Witch launches a car at her. Unfortunately you don't get to see her feet, but there's a nice shot of her empty boots under the car. Seems like a nod to wizard of oz.

A couple more finds on Tubi (sorry in advance that I didn't get the time stamps):
These two are both long-term footwear loss movies:
Seoul Station (animated prequel to Train to Busan)
Lead character loses her fisherman style sandals (had to google what they were called) trying to run away from zombies in the subway around the 20 or so min mark and spends the remaining time of the movie barefoot. She has to walk through a LOT barefoot. This anime is a fantastic movie if you haven't seen it yet.
Cutlass
A woman is abducted from a house party. She and her captor hide in the woods. Her boyfriend goes to look for her and when he gets close, the captor draws his gun in preparation to shoot him. To save her boyfriend, the woman throws her sandals in a different direction to force her boyfriend to head in that direction. The woman is then barefoot until around the hour mark of the movie when her captor finds her some shoes.
