Star Versus the Forces of Evil

"The Blood Moon Ball"

Not actually a loss per se, but this episode does have two sections with start sans boots, areond the 4:13 mark there is a scene of her bare foot (in a Graduate/ Mrs. Robinson pose) as she put her boot on. Then near the end when the elevator opens to drop her off at home (around 10:11) her boots are off again (there's actually an animation inconsistency, Star has natural toenails in the first scene, pink painted ones in the second) as a bonus she then throws the boots at Marco.

Two more (or more accurately one now one in the future)

In the Gravity Falls Slideshow, Mabel is missing one of her shoes in one of the photos (00:25)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O4npiGtif-U

The other one is sort of "to come" near the end of the most recent episode, "Not what he seems" after the gate blows up you see the characters temporarily floating in space. At this point Mabel is again missing her shoe. It isn't a single shoe scene (her other leg is not visible). But depending on whether they start the next episode exactly where this one left off (it won't be shown until summer, so we have a while) I assume we might get one in the next episode.

They did but unfortunately they must have forgotten; Mabel had both shoes.

This link might help you then. The show had two repeated songs videos running through it, the Flasbic (which back when I was in high school, I actually worked out how to play (well the refrain since I played trumpet, I talked a friend who played the flute into doing the major part) and this

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cbmdFRy5XV8

The bit around 1:00 or so is the closest I can think of of Arcana giving what could be considered a sexy look.)

I also was fond of L' Mysterieux Cites D'or (The Mysterious cities of Gold) when I was a kid, but that would not be of use to use period. Zia is the only notable female character and she 1. is about eight or nine and 2. wears pretty basic sandals (she is Incan after all) Though I will point out that, for whoever it was who was interested in male shoe loss who posted a while back, Esteban does lose one of his sandals in the opening credits.

Nice. I can see why Batgirl would want to deboot her too, if nothing else, they are probably HER boots (this isn't meant to be a jab at you and your artistic choices, just a note that, based on a quick image search I did, Fantomette's boots from the TV show seem to be flat soled [ and earlier incarnations didn't wear boots at all; they seem to all have on either yellow flats or red Mary Janes/ T-straps])

Speaking of French Cartoon females, I thought I had a new candidate for the debooting list, Arcana from the old 1980's cartoon Les Mondes Egloutis (better know to old fogey English language viewers like me as Spartacus and the Sun Beneath the Sea) and old favorite from my childhood. However thinking it over, I realize she is probably not a good choice for two reasons.

1. I'm not sure her clothes are even removable. She was constructed with them, and since she never seems to take any of them off (including that weird vaguely Fritz Lang-ish hat). So I'm not 100% sure she even has skin under them. This might be doubly true for her feet since the children who made her were completely unfamiliar with them (that was one of the points of the series, the Arcadians no longer have legs, they just hover)

2. Arcana has a very weird face, even given the animation style of the series. Between it's extreme flatness and the odd slant of her eyes, she has a vaguely Mongoloid look (both in terms of her ethnicity and in terms of the old un PC word for a person with Down's Syndrome) So it's actually sort of hard to make expressions for her (if you look at the actual series there are relatively few times she actually doesn't look more or less deadpan) So if you leave it as is, the picture wouldn't work because she'd have no sign she felt anything. And if you changed her appearance enough to make her capable of expressions, it wouldn't really look like her (that's sort of the problem I have with the C.C./Kallen debooting drawing Noiry did, it's a nice picture but it doesn't really LOOK like C.C. and Kallen.)

Elie from Rave Master loses her boot.

Nice find, there aren't too many scenes like that in manga, did this happen in the anime as well?

No, the anime stopped before that chapter (though pretty close to it, I think). There is one near the beginning where Elie is barefoot for the whole episode however.

As for frequency in manga, it sort of depends on which manga. There was a period near the middle ofSgt. Frog where shoe loss scenes were actually sort of common (don't exactly remember precisely where, but I think there was one in most English language volumes between about 4 and 10 or so) Gunsmith Cats has a chapter near the end where the blond girl is missing one (about half) or both (about the other half) of her sneakers (along with her shorts) as a result of trying to take down a terrorist (it is a running gag through the series that she stuffs the insoles of her sneakers with C4, so she can used them as improvised bombs as necessary* Revolutionalry Girl Utena has at least two, one with one of the bad guys taking one of Utenta's shoes off to look at her sprained ankle (which is in the anime) and one of the other girl sitting on a couch cuddled in a boys arms with one of her shoes fallen off her food. No wait three, there was also a scene somewhere with Untena kicking off her shoes as she runs up the stairs in her house (there's also if I recall one illustration of the other girl where, due to an illustrator error, she is wearing two different shoes, one with laces, one with a strap.) There are a few other sin manga that are popular enough they are probably available online in my collection but I'm damned if I can remember where most of the others are from (remember a lot of my old stuff was from books that fell apart so I just saved the illustration and threw the rest of the book out.)

*This volume may not in fact be easy to get anymore (or the chapter may no longer be kept as is) since this came out some years before the shoe-bomber incident, and the publishers may now question it's taste.

Been looking for this commercial (part of the problem was that my memory told me it was for Wheat Thins
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cXy2_IjpFFg

now if I could just find youtube links for those two old Payless Shoes commercials I want to post (I have them on an VHS, but I have neither the skills nor equipment to move an image from a cassette to an online folder.)

My copy just arrived in the mail (unfortunately, I can't do a picture this time, as the shoe loss picture is so small versus the rest of the page that it would be guaranteed to come out as an unintelligible blur)

The loss in this one isn't nearly as good as the one in the other book I posted. Each look and find covers one of the episodes from the early part of the series (the do have the magician one, but sorry no one shod Velma[though she is in the stage costume]) Basically, Daphne is missing one of her shoes in the Leeland Brothers episode (the first one where she took her shoe off) as she slides down a water slide, so it's more or less from the side/bottom of her feet (actually, I didn't notice at the time but, since the background of the cover are sections of the actual pages, you can actually see one shoed Daphne from there. Look in the upper left section.

Oddly despite this being a What's New, Scooby Doo? related book Daphne is wearing her "classic" shoes in that picture (the ones with the pointier toes and the bow that looks a little like an open book) In fact, while she appears to be otherwise in her WN,SD? clothes (the dress with the wraparound neck, as opposed to the classic one with the belt and the green scarf.) She seems to have her classic shoes on in every picture in which her feet are visible (though in some cases the illustrator seems to have created some sort of bizarre hybrid shoes with the classic bow but a wide toe and flat platform sole, sort of similar to what Velma wears in this series (or to the green substitute shoe she put on in the VR episode.)

I think Velma's shoes are the correct one for the series, but since her old shoes and the one's in this series are so similar looking (basically again the old ones had pointier toes and more clearly delineated heels, plus you could see the button and the end of the fastening strap) it's a little hard to tell.

Just ordered a copy, we'll know soon.

Speaking of single shoe books, I had a bit of good fortune this weekend. After ages of trying to get my hands on a 19th century children's pop up with two single shoe pictures (Cinderella is one of the pop ups, and it has Little Betty Blue on one of the non pop up pages) I finally did it.

It isn't anything like a perfect copy but it seems to have both of those pages (which is all I really care about) And I'm lucky to have managed that (the book is basically so desirable to book collectors that any attempt of mine to get it via bidding without a $500+ bankroll was more or less impossible. I just lucked out in that the person who offered it decided to do it as a Buy it Now.) Plus, I have two more foreign Wizard of Oz books in the pipeline, a Turkish one (which I know has a single shoed Dorothy melting the witch in it; I checked before buying). and another Russian/Lithuanian one (can't really tell from description) which I had to go into blind (though since I now have another Oz collector who basically buys whatever Oz books I offer him at whatever price I ask, the financial risk to me if I am wrong and the books doesn't have a usable picture is no longer nearly as great as it used to be.)

I own it, but if what you are asking is "can I provide a picture of the illustration" the answer is "not right now". I still haven't put my sister's computer tower from work in place of the old one, and it is only after that I see if I can make the printer synch up with the computer (so I can use the scanner again). I'll try and take a picture with my phone's camera later, but it probably won't be very good (not a great camera)

EDIT

best I can do

It's not a direct link, but based on a clip in this this video, there is ANOTHER single shoe bit in Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt, one that actually DOES involve 1. Stocking and 2. actual shoes (the panty ones were bedroom slippers if I recall). Anyone want to track down which episode this is? (5:34) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vq1c1G25...tion_1411451359

There's one in episode 18 as well, but it's basically the same as the one in episode 1 (I think they may have actually simply recycled the animation) Episodes 20-25 have yet to be dubbed, so I'll have to get back on those.

Ep. 7 (appx 14:10)

and based on some of the stuff I have seen around Danbooru, there may be more as the series progresses.

No, the actual shoes do not interest me, just images. Though oddly there are a lot of people who DO sell single shoes on ebay. Mostly these are leftovers from either shoe shops (since a lot of shoe shops only put one shoe of a pair out for display purposes, if something happens in the store that results in destroyed stock, it is not unusual for the store to suddenly have many, many shoes that are now mateless) or reference models from the factories. I think the buyers are usually either people who had a pair of the same shoes and had one damaged, and so are looking to replace it without having to shell out for a whole new pair (also possibly a smaller number of buyers are people with only one leg/foot, who don't need two shoes and don't want to spend the extra money.)

To add more to my collection of course. Remember I mostly collect illustrations and drawings, not photos or video clips, so Ebay is a good source for the kind of pieces that interest me (okay not a GOOD source, but better than most of the other possible ones I know) I do two searches for things for my collections (both this one and my other ones) on ebay per day anyway, so doing a little checking to see if anything new of interest has been offered is not a big deal. I'd probably do more or less the same thing during my daily book hunt on Rinkya, except I can't read or write Japanese.

From time to time, when I'm bored and have nothing better to do. Ditto youtube and Deviantart. About half of my daily ebay searches relate to single shoes. Oh and each daily trip around Danbooru ends with checking the tags "single shoe", "shoe dangle" and "mismatched footwear", in case someone caught one I didn't (I check "shoes removed" about once every other week)
