Managed to dig up a bit of a pair of rarities here, two LIVE performances of Tarzan featuring a single booted Jane Porter (while the "Daddy they took my boot" line has become a meme, and hence not uncommon in cosplay PICTURES or fanart, it's actually pretty rare in actual performances (in the Broadway musical, Jane loses her dress, not her boot.)

There WAS a third one I found, but it was from so far away one really couldn't see anything, so I didn't bother to mark it.

Also in regards to that second video, did that ever happen in the original books or films?

Don't know, as I have never READ any of the original books or seen any of the original films.

I will note that, based on such COVERS of the books as I have seen, it is a lot less likely since the story is taking place a LOT later in time (Tarzan wasn't published until 1912) and Jane is dressed in a much more jungle appropriate manner, which includes thigh high brown pull on boots (the kind it takes some effort to pull off). Basically, in the book world Jane is dressed more or less like Clayton (who does not exist in the books) is dressed.

Pity, based on the stage show video it would have made sense that it would be one of the things he'd do to identify that she was like him and that disney film sort of parodied that.

Possibly, though since Tarzan will have never seen shoes or boots before, it really only works if Jane has ALREADY lost it/them (like in the movie) or they more or less slip off of their own accord (like in the clip). WITH calf high boots (possibly with puttees on top- of them) Tarzan would presumably have NO idea that those WEREN'T just the shape of her legs and feet, and assume she WASN'T the same sort of creature as him.

It's a bit like how in Fiji, there is a saying "Tough as the boots of Mr. Baker", which (according to legend) cone from the days when the Fijians (who were cannibals at the time), cooked and ate a missionary. Never having seen boots before, they thought they were part of his feet, and left them on when they cooked him, later complaining that, no matter HOW long they boiled them, his "feet" wouldn't get tender!

I will also point out that, in the old time movies, Jane isn't barefoot even when she is in "jungle girl" mode (i.e. Tarzan's wife). She wears slippers (most likely because they didn't want their starlets to ruing their soft soles and pedicures.)

The new season of Stranger things has a scene 1 hour and 6 mins into the 4th episode in which Nancy and Robin are running away from the cops and lose their high heels. Nancy is wearing sheer nude hose and Robin is wearing thin frilly ankle socks. Also, you get a close up of Robin's feet earlier in the episode (20 mins in before she loses her shoes) as she's struggling walking in her heels and almost steps out of them. Unfortunately you don't get a close up after they lose their shoes, but it's still a nice scene if you have the pause button ready.

  stepping out of her shoe

Madam Secretary season 1 (episode 8 or 7):

drunk girl (the older daughter of Madam Secretary) stumbles and involuntarily steps out of her flat shoe in a bar ...

she then quickly slips into her shoe again which happens off camera.

I just made a YouTube channel to compile some of my personal favourite scenes.

This one was hard to find, but I managed to rip it, the infamous Drew Barrymore scene from Poison Ivy where she loses her cowboy boot and spends the next while in one boot and one white sock.

Enjoy!

very nice! amazing that she just leave her boot behind as if she does not want it.

Thanks! One of my faves for sure!
I'm trying to get videos up before Youtube gives me copyright strikes, so let's see how long this lasts.

I always assumed it was more along the lines of the canyon being too deep for her to retrieve it. On the other hand, she doesn't seem to be all that ticked off about losing it, so maybe you are right.

Looks like a combination of both the ravine being too deep AND she doesn't seem to be phased about losing it. Probably goes to her character being unstable. What is the name of your channel? It's not given and the clip seems to be on its own feed.

Unstable in more ways than one; cowboy boots tend to have pretty substantial heels, so walking with only one for an extended time must be awkward/uncomfortable. While I LIKE the single heel gait and find it attractive, I am well aware that it is not a natural or comfortable gait, and that, in most real world situations, it is not a gait that most women are going to voluntarily maintain for any extended period of time if they can help it (i.e. if a woman in the real world either breaks or loses one of her high heels, she is probably going to remove/ditch the other one fairly quickly.)

I agree. Unless the woman is in an extreme situation where having one shoe, even one with a heel of moderate hieght, is preferable to being completely barefoot, such is the case for my main female character in my novel, The Railroad Man. I'm continuing the rewrite of my "Author's Edition" which I hope will be finished before the end of the year, but I'm continually interupted by that pesky thing called life over and over again. But i'm continuing to persevere.

Found another single shoe Jane stage play (loss occurs off stage, but you can see he stocking foot around the 47 minute mark, and both her feet and the "took my boot" line are around 52 minutes.)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bn6C37OnccQ

On a related note, as a byproduct of all of my Oz searches, Pinterest has been leading me to a lot of Judy Garland pins, so I thought this could be an opportunity to check on something. According to many biographical sources, Judy had a habit of taking off her right shoe while reading, because she thought it improved her concentration. So I was looking to see if anyone had ever caught a photo of this happening. So far, so luck, I DID find one pin of her reading, but she's wearing a long skirt that covers her right leg (and the other foot clearly has a shoe on it.) I THOUGHT I had one from her show, but she appears to have BOTH shoes off in that (there was also one from The Clock (which has a single shoe moment in the actual movie) but she has removed her other shoe as well in that.)
