I feel like Audrey Hepburn probably has the most shoe loss scenes out of any actress.

Really? What other scenes can you think of? The only one I know of is Roman Holiday.

Another Tubi find here called "Flesh, TX"... absolutely trash movie, but they made a big deal showing the villainess in cowboy boots all the time so I assumed something would happen.

Anyway, after scanning through it, the movie ends with the villainess stabbed and her sister coming to taunt her. Then the sister steals her boots leaving the villainess to die in her socks.

Hi, long time lurker, first time poster.

I've been reading this thread and other threads ever since the site used to be on a previous domain.

Anyway, got some stuff to add to this thread as well.

The Tenkuu Shinpan anime finally released and the main character Yuri Honjo loses one of her shoes while crossing a bridge just like in the manga. I haven't seen the whole anime yet but I think she's only in one shoe and a long black sock from about 20min30sec into the first episode to about 16min30sec into the second episode.

Not technically shoe loss for these next two but both are in one shoe for a bit so yeah.

In the fourth episode of the first season of Adult Swim's Black Jesus, Maggie throws one of her shoes at Shalinka and they fight. She stays in one shoe and a black sock for a little bit. She's also later seen with no shoes while Boonie's mom, Ms. Tudi, is kicking him out of the house. Takes place between about 9min in to about 11min in.

In the fourth episode of Birdgirl, Birdgirl removes one of her shoes to help free someone caught in cables but she dies anyway after Birdgirl saves her. Also, Birdgirl is wearing white and gray no show socks. Takes place between about 14min50sec in to about 15min13sec in.

I remember checking out the Tom and Jerry and the Wizard of Oz movie to see if Dorothy ever lost her Ruby Slippers but I don't think it happened, as the movie was similar to the Wizard of Oz movie with Judy Garland (the Wicked Witch is killed with water so she isn't able to take the Ruby Slippers like in other iterations). However, I didn't realize there was a sequel.

The Tom & Jerry: Back to Oz movie has Dorothy without her Ruby Slippers or regular shoes at a few points in the film. She is wearing blue and light blue socks.

2min35sec - 2min45sec (Removes Ruby Slippers and puts on regular shoes.)

12min30sec - 12min35sec (Removes regular shoes and puts on Ruby Slippers.)

57min40sec - 1hr08min40sec (Removes Ruby Slippers to give to the Nome King. She is shoeless for a bit until Tom and Jerry take the Ruby Slippers from the Nome King to give back to her.)

It's actually pretty rare for a version to feature RUBY slipper AND shoe loss, since that's more of something that happens with more book faithful versions, which use the original silver shoes.

This Greek one has it

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FKZEFK86U9E

I've also seen a few stage play versions online that have both (most of whose links are long since deleted, unfortunately)

In terms of Movies the only ones I can think of that have loss are the Turkish version and the Live action Russian Volkov one

And of course, a handful of cartoon versions.

Nice Greek play video.

And yeah, while I haven't seen all of the animated Wizard of Oz works, here are some of the cartoons featuring shoe loss or shoe removal that I know of that I don't think have been mentioned in this thread yet.

The 1964 Return to Oz Cartoon Special: Dorothy is in yellow socks after the Silver Slippers get pulled off her in a struggle against the Wicked Witch (43min25sec - 43min50sec). She is also barefoot while in bed before she puts on her Silver Slippers (1min35sec - 2min03sec).

Mickey Mouse Clubhouse "The Wizard of Dizz": Minnie is barefoot after giving the Magic Shoes to Pete (34min10sec - 37min50sec).

I also know about The Wonderful Wizard of Oz anime, the DIC Wizard of Oz cartoon (one of my favorites by the way), and the Dorothy and the Wizard of Oz cartoon from Boomerang but I think Nopperabo had previously mentioned those lol.

Shoe loss or shoe removal leaving Dorothy in white socks happens in the DIC Wizard of Oz cartoon in "We're Not In Kansas Anymore" (18min40sec - 19min) as well as "The Lion That Squeaked" (18min40sec - 19min46sec). Nopperabo had mentioned most of the episodes involving shoe loss or shoe removal but I believe these were the ones missing from that post a while back.

There very well could be shoe loss or shoe removal in the third season of Dorothy and the Wizard of Oz but I'm not sure as I haven't been able to watch it yet. I can't find the episodes online even though they supposedly aired last year. I also read that the Silver Slippers are featured in the third season as well.

Oh yeah. Nopperabo, I really liked those edits you would do to scans you had.

Well, there are a few of those I did since then, but posting them will have to wait until I have a new posting platform.

And I probably won't be doing that many more of those, as I have sort of run out of usable illustrations.

As I mentioned in order for them to look "natural" I can't do anything with

Girls not wearing any socks or stockings (since I can't draw toes)

High heels (usually) since they put the foot in a different position than it would be in if they were wearing lower shoes (so the result looks awkward)

(Usually) any one Yutaka Ono did where the characters are wearing ankle boots, since he draws them with a sort of flare at the top that is hard to erase. (or why I have never tried to work with the Goldilocks volume)
